We thought the island would shield us from the waves, but instead it turned the waves to hit us on the side so we would wobble more.

When we got to Nassau, we anchored on the west side of the island.  Also, the waves were still more than is comfortable.  Alas.  Fortunately, we have our sea legs, so we are able to sleep and work with some wave action.
